Moving is good for your body and mind at all stages of life and there are lots of easy ways you, your friends and family can get moving! Fitting some physical activity into your day is easier than you think. The simple act of getting up and about can reduce your risk of developing many diseases including diabetes, heart disease and some cancers. It also improves mental health, sleep, concentration and mood.

It is recommended that we should carry out at least 30 minutes’ of moderate activity 5 days a week.

The Fit and Active Barnet (FAB) Card is a free annual membership available to Barnet residents, giving access to a range of benefits across all five of the Barnet Leisure Centres and beyond. Health walks in Barnet parks
Enjoy a stroll around some of our beautiful parks and open spaces by taking part in one (or more) of the weekly organised health walks.
Barnet’s Health Walks programme is suitable for anyone aged 18 and over and is led by qualified and experienced instructors, creating a friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
Seven Health Walks are delivered each week in Barnet and are graded for their difficulty to help you find a walk that’s suitable for you.

Fitness and exercise classes for older people in Barnet
AgeUK Barnet run fun and affordable fitness and exercise activities throughout the London Borough of Barnet. These include indoor and outdoor classes for all levels and abilities. These classes are aimed at people aged 55 and above. Visit the AgeUK Barnet. website to find out more.
Transport for London
TfL have information on how to get around London by foot, suggested walking routes and places to see and visit.
They also have maps showing how many steps or minutes it takes to walk between tube stations and information on journeys that are quicker if walked.
